The Kenton shares its story with Henley WI

The Kenton Theatre went behind the scenes with members of Henley WI last week, as Theatre Manager Lottie Pheasant and Chair of Trustees Dennis Oliver shared a special presentation exploring the theatre’s past, present and future.

The presentation took members on a journey through more than 220 years of theatrical history, from the building’s earliest days and its many transformations to the work now taking place to protect and develop it for future generations.

Lottie and Dennis also spoke about the breadth of activity taking place at The Kenton today, including its increasingly diverse programme, support for local groups, volunteer opportunities, fundraising and building improvements.

The presentation also explored The Kenton’s growing work with young people, including Kenton Youth, creative work placements, structured work experience and the Artswork Breakthrough Programme.

Lottie Pheasant, Theatre Manager at The Kenton, said:

“Dennis and I both really enjoyed talking about The Kenton’s past, present and future. The members of Henley WI were such an engaged, inquisitive, and knowledgeable audience, and it was a pleasure to share this chapter of the theatre’s story with them.”

The Kenton is very grateful to Henley WI for its warm welcome and generous donation to the theatre following the presentation.

The visit formed part of The Kenton’s wider work to build relationships with organisations across the area and share more about what takes place both onstage and behind the scenes.

Lottie and Dennis are now keen to take the presentation to more clubs, societies and local groups.

Lottie added:

“It is so important for us to get out and talk to people about everything happening at The Kenton. Dennis and I make a great double act, and we would love to visit more organisations and answer their questions about the theatre.”
