Taking part

We want Kenton Carols to be a really special experience for pupils, while keeping things as simple and manageable as possible for schools.

Pupil numbers

Each school may bring up to 25 pupils to take part in Kenton Carols. [TBC]

Please confirm the number of pupils you expect to bring by Friday 6 November.

Once we have final numbers from all participating schools, any remaining spaces can be offered to schools that would like to increase the size of their choir.

Chaperones

Each participating school must ensure that two teachers are present to act as chaperones for their pupils from 4pm until the end of the show.

Teachers will remain responsible for their pupils throughout the event.

What schools need to provide

Ahead of the event, schools will need to provide:

• confirmed pupil numbers
• final performance choices
• a photograph of the school choir for the souvenir programme
• any backing tracks needed for performances

What happens on the day?

Choirs should arrive at The Kenton at 4pm.

There will be time for each school to get used to the stage, go over the spacing for their own numbers and rehearse the group performances with the other participating schools before the audience arrives.

The show will begin at 6pm.

Cost of taking part

Kenton Carols is completely free for schools to participate in.

All event costs are covered by The Kenton with the generous support of The Abbey School Reading and Divas & Dudes.

Each child taking part will also receive a souvenir programme and an ice cream during the interval.

Most importantly, pupils get the chance to perform on The Kenton stage alongside young people from other local schools and be part of a shared festive celebration.
