The Kenton Theatre holds its 2024 AGM
THE KENTON THEATRE HOLDS ITS 2024 AGM
The Kenton Theatre 2024 Annual General Meeting was held at The Kenton Theatre at 7pm on Wednesday 25 September. The AGM was an important opportunity to report to and communicate with the members of The Kenton.
36 Members attended the meeting, when the 2023 accounts were formally adopted.
Members voted to formally elect Dennis Oliver and Tony Sanderson to the Board of Trustees.
Tara Macleod, Chair of the Board of Trustees, acknowledged the challenges the theatre has faced in recent times while outlining a plan to make The Kenton modern, accessible and compliant.
The theatre reported a deficit of £165k for the last financial year (1 September 2022 – 31August 2023). Treasurer, Tony Sanderson talked about reasons behind this as well as the improving financial trend for 2024.
Theatre Manager, Lottie Pheasant, presented an overview of activity in the theatre including details on improvement in operations and building management, staffing, volunteer support, programming, community engagement as well the theatre’s work on sustainability and moving towards a net-carbon future. She reported positive trends in ticket sales, customer growth and website visits.
Dennis Oliver outlined details on the building refurbishment requirements and the current status of grant applications.
‘Spotlight on The Kenton’, a five-year fundraising plan to raise £2million, was announced by Fiona Sanderson.
At the end of the meeting, Tara thanked exiting trustees Laura Law, Julie Huntington and Judith Terry, for their contributions to the Board and The Kenton over the years.
