Behind the curtains: a fresh new look for the Kenton stage

There is always more going on behind the curtains at the Kenton than audiences might realise.

This time, quite literally.

We have recently welcomed a brand new set of stage drapes, replacing some of our most well used stage cloths and giving our stage a fresh new look for the many visiting companies, community groups and performers who appear here throughout the year.

The new drapes were made especially for the Kenton by Presentation Design Services, who also captured some fantastic behind the scenes footage of the process (see our socials), from the cloth being cut and made in their workshop to the finished drapes hanging on our stage.

The project has been made possible thanks to funding from South Oxfordshire District Council’s performing arts grant, together with generous additional support from Kenton Patron Simon Clarke.

A huge thank you to South Oxfordshire District Council and Simon for helping make the project possible, to Presentation Design Services for creating the new drapes, and to our Technical team for overseeing everything from production through to installation.

It is one of those improvements that audiences may never really think about, but it makes an important difference to the day to day running and presentation of the theatre.
