Playing Cards with Purpose: £625 Raised for Henley’s Historic Theatre
Ace Places Playing Cards is proud to announce it has raised £625.25 over the last 12 months for The Kenton Theatre through sales of its Henley Playing Cards. This brings the total donation to the Kenton to £839.25, with funds helping to support one of the UK’s oldest working theatres at the heart of the Henley community.
The Henley Playing Cards celebrate the very best of the town – from local landmarks and hidden gems to iconic businesses – and with every pack sold, 25p is donated directly to the Kenton Theatre. This includes packs purchased through the Ace Places website or from local retailers.
“We’re proud to support such a beloved local institution,” said Emma Sweet, Founder of Ace Places. “The Kenton is more than a theatre – it’s a cultural cornerstone, and we’re delighted that every shuffle of the cards contributes to keeping it thriving.”
Lottie Pheasant, Theatre Manager at The Kenton Theatre said: “We are incredibly grateful for the generous support from Ace Places and everyone who has purchased a pack of Henley Playing Cards. Not only are the cards beautifully designed, but they also offer such a unique and heartfelt way to celebrate the spirit of Henley. The funds raised are invaluable in helping us maintain and continue the legacy of The Kenton Theatre. This contribution not only supports the theatre itself, but also helps us remain a vital part of the Henley community.”
Emma added: “Each pack is special because it captures the spirit of the place it represents – not just through the locations featured on the cards, but through the community it supports. Whether you’re a visitor discovering somewhere new or a local feeling proud of where you live, every pack is a celebration of what makes each town unique.”
Ace Places has also raised £410.75 over the last 12 months for Longridge Activity Centre, the nominated charity for the Marlow Playing Cards. Including earlier donations, £1,446.75 has now been given to Longridge. The difference in totals is due to the 25p-per-pack donation being in place from the very start of the Marlow pack’s launch, including all packs sold through local retailers – a model that has since been mirrored for Henley.
Supporting local charities is a core part of the Ace Places mission. Each town featured in the growing Ace Places collection has its own nominated charity, ensuring that every pack gives back to the place it celebrates.
