Community fund
Helping those under-represented in The Arts step into the spotlight.
The Kenton Theatre Community Fund assists local groups who are under-represented in The Arts step into the spotlight.
Community support groups, cultural organisations, educational organisations and charities can all apply to use the fund which provides financial and technical support for a one-off performance at The Kenton.
The first recipients of the fund were The Chiltern Centre. This wonderful local charity is in its 20th year supporting young adults with disabilities. The Chiltern Centre put on a spectacular production of Bahdoon: The Lion’s Triumph, a wonderful story of courage, acceptance and inclusion. The production included fantastic performances by a number of the young adults who use the centre and they were supported by staff and volunteers.
Pamela Lee from The Chiltern Centre said, “We are incredibly grateful for this new and exciting partnership with The Kenton Theatre which will give our young adults at the Chiltern Centre the opportunity to explore their creative side, while working towards a live performance for friends and family for the very first time… Thank you to the Kenton Theatre who have supported this project, we can’t wait to show you what we can do..!”
The Community Fund is collected through donations as well as through a levy of 25p on every ticket sold for performances promoted by The Kenton. The money cannot be used for any purpose other than providing financial assistance to community organisations who would like to perform at The Kenton, but are not able to do so without financial support.
